A Brief Discussion on the New Trends in the Development of the Domestic Valve Industry

There are about 2,300 valve manufacturers in our country, providing several major categories of valve products, over 3,500 varieties, and more than 40,000 specifications.
(1) Valves for urban construction: Urban construction systems generally use low-pressure valves, which are currently developing towards environmentally friendly and energy-saving types. Environmentally friendly rubber plate valves, balancing valves, centerline butterfly valves, and metal-sealed butterfly valves are gradually replacing low-pressure cast iron gate valves. The valves needed for urban construction in the country are mostly balancing valves, soft-sealed gate valves, and butterfly valves.
(2) Valves for urban heating: In urban heating systems, a large number of metal-sealed butterfly valves, horizontal balancing valves, and buried ball valves are required, as these valves solve the hydraulic imbalance issues in pipelines, achieving energy savings and heating balance.
(3) Valves for environmental protection: In domestic environmental protection systems, the water supply system mainly requires centerline butterfly valves, soft-sealed gate valves, ball valves, and exhaust valves (used to remove air from pipelines). The wastewater treatment system mainly requires soft-sealed gate valves and butterfly valves.
(4) Valves for urban gas: Urban gas accounts for 22% of the entire natural gas market, with a large demand for valves of various types. The main requirements are for ball valves, plug valves, pressure reducing valves, and safety valves.
(5) Valves for long-distance pipelines: Long-distance pipelines mainly transport crude oil, refined products, and natural gas. The most commonly used valves for these pipelines are forged steel three-piece full-bore ball valves, sulfur-resistant flat gate valves, safety valves, and check valves.
(6) Valves for petrochemical installations: a. Refining installations mainly require pipeline valves, including gate valves, globe valves, check valves, safety valves, ball valves, butterfly valves, and steam traps, with gate valves accounting for about 80% of the total number of valves (valves account for 3% to 5% of the total investment in the installation).
                 b. Chemical fiber installations mainly produce three categories: polyester, acrylic, and vinylon. The required valves include ball valves and jacketed valves (jacketed ball valves, jacketed gate valves, jacketed globe valves).
                 c. Acrylic installations generally require valves produced according to API standards, mainly including gate valves, globe valves, check valves, ball valves, steam traps, needle valves, and plug valves, with gate valves accounting for about 75% of the total number of valves.
                 d. Ammonia synthesis installations require different valves due to different raw materials and purification methods, leading to different process flows and technical performance requirements. Currently, domestic ammonia synthesis installations mainly require gate valves, globe valves, check valves, steam traps, butterfly valves, ball valves, diaphragm valves, control valves, needle valves, safety valves, and high-temperature and low-temperature valves. Among these, globe valves account for 53.4% of the total number of valves used in the installation, gate valves account for 25.1%, steam traps account for 7.7%, safety valves account for 2.4%, and control valves, low-temperature valves, and others account for 11.4%.
                 e. Ethylene installations are the leading installations in petrochemicals, requiring a wide variety of valves. Gate valves, globe valves, check valves, and rising stem ball valves are the majority, with gate valves being the most needed. According to the 'Tenth Five-Year Plan', the country still needs to build six ethylene installations with an annual output of 660,000 tons, which will have a considerable demand for valves. Additionally, large ethylene and high-pressure polyethylene installations also require ultra-high temperature, low temperature, and ultra-high pressure valve series products.
                 f. Air separation installations mainly require globe valves, safety valves, check valves, control valves, ball valves, butterfly valves, and low-temperature valves.
                 g. Polypropylene installations mainly require gate valves, globe valves, check valves, needle valves, ball valves, and steam traps.
(7) Valves for power stations: The construction of power stations in our country is developing towards larger scales, thus requiring large-diameter and high-pressure safety valves, pressure reducing valves, globe valves, gate valves, butterfly valves, emergency shut-off valves, flow control valves, and ball-sealing instrument globe valves. (According to the national 'Tenth Five-Year Plan', except for Inner Mongolia and Guizhou provinces, which can still build units of over 200,000 kilowatts, other provinces and cities can only build units of over 300,000 kilowatts.)
(8) Valves for metallurgy: In the metallurgy industry, the bauxite behavior mainly requires wear-resistant slurry valves (in flow globe valves) and control steam traps. The steelmaking industry mainly requires metal-sealed ball valves, butterfly valves, and oxidized ball valves, globe valves, and four-way switching valves.
(9) Valves for offshore platforms: With the development of offshore oilfield exploitation, the demand for valves on offshore platforms is gradually increasing. Offshore platforms require shut-off ball valves, check valves, and multi-way valves.
(10) Valves for food and pharmaceuticals: This industry mainly requires stainless steel ball valves, non-toxic all-plastic ball valves, and butterfly valves.
